Castles, Battles & Prisoners!CHAR014663
The Highland Archive Centre holds millions of historic documents, dating from the 1200s to the present day. Many of them contain stories of battles, castles, prisons & prisoners. Come and look at some old documents and find out what it was like to be the hangman in Inverness in 1730, why Hugh MacLeod's body was taken away to Edinburgh for dissection in 1835, what the prison sentence was for wearing a kilt after the Battle of Culloden, and what happened when Inverness Castle was blown up in 1746! Help to create a giant map of the Highlands using some of these stories.
